Greenvent Program Saves Money and Energy

The GreenVent for Energy Efficient Kitchens Program provides rebates for the purchase and installation of Melink Company Intelli-Hood® controls. Melink's Intelli-Hood® controls modulate the speed of the exhaust and make up air fan motors with variable frequency drives (VFD's) based on the temperature of exhaust air and the presence of any effluent, smoke or steam, in the air stream. This technology substantially reduces customer energy consumption, especially during peak usage hours of 12 - 6pm Monday through Friday. When kitchens are not operating at full capacity the Intelli-Hood control scales back the Horsepower necessary to remove exhaust. Its advanced automation control enables restaurants to vent the necessary amount needed, ensuring cleanliness and all applicable air quality and safety regulations.

Savings and Benefits

The Intelli-Hood controls improve hood efficiency up to 50%. Typical annual operating savings are $1500-$3000 per hood. They also improve kitchen comfort, indoor air quality, and fire safety.

Melink Intelli-Hood controls are the new industry standard for commercial kitchen ventilation systems. Most commercial kitchen hoods operate at 100% capacity all day, even during idle non-cooking periods.

Simple to Use

The cook/chef presses the light and fan switch on the keypad. That's it! The hood lights then turn on and the fans go to a pre-set minimum speed of 50%. When the cooking appliances are turned on, the fan speed increases based on exhaust air temperature. During actual cooking, the speed increases to 100% until the smoke/vapor is removed.
